He lived with 3 brothers and 2 sisters, all of whom loved professional wrestling growing up, as their father was a wrestler and promoter. When Blake was of age to begin learning, he along with his brothers began training under their father, learning the rugged European style of wrestling. It was this down and dirty style of wrestling that Blake succeeded in. It was during this time that Blake began going to the gym regularly and building his physique. By the end of the year, he had a build that looked chiseled from stone. This is when he was released into the world of pro wrestling to find his name and place. In his first try as a wrestler, he didn't make it far after a shoulder injury quickly took him out. After this, he took an extended break from wrestling, becoming a bouncer for a club in Los Angeles, while wrestling part time.
